France accuses China of running campaign to undermine Rafale Jets after India-Pakistan clash

Paris: France’s military and intelligence agencies have accused China of launching a coordinated campaign to discredit the Rafale fighter jets following the recent India–Pakistan military skirmish.

According to a French intelligence report, China allegedly used diplomatic missions and defence attachés in countries like Indonesia, Egypt, Qatar, the UAE, and Greece to raise doubts about the Rafale’s performance. The report claims AI-generated content, fake social media accounts, and viral posts were used to spread propaganda favouring Chinese-made aircraft.

The accusations stem from the May conflict, where the Indian Air Force reportedly lost a Rafale, a Sukhoi, and a Mirage 2000, raising concerns amongst Rafale-buying nations. France believes China exploited these losses to damage the Rafale’s global reputation.

China Denies Allegations

Beijing dismissed the allegations as baseless and fabricated, stating that it maintains a responsible approach to defence exports and supports global peace.
