Fuel Prices Likely to Increase in Pakistan

Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to rise in the upcoming fortnightly price adjustment, with an increase of up to Rs5 per litre under consideration. According to official sources, a preliminary working paper has been prepared by relevant authorities ahead of the scheduled review.

As per the initial proposal, petrol prices may increase by Rs1.12 per litre, while high-speed diesel is expected to see a larger hike of Rs5.27 per litre. Additionally, the working paper recommends raising the price of kerosene oil by Rs4.13 per litre.

The final decision regarding fuel prices will be made by the Ministry of Finance after consulting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has submitted its recommendations, which are based on fluctuations in global oil markets and adjustments in domestic taxes.
