Gaza Refugee Tents Flooded by Heavy Winter Rain

Heavy rainfall in Gaza has worsened the hardships of Palestinian refugees, as their temporary shelters were destroyed and belongings ruined. The first winter rain caused widespread damage, with Gaza refugee tents flooded, leaving many families struggling to save what little they had.
Palestinians were sleeping in their makeshift shelters when the sudden downpour started. Water quickly filled the tents, soaking blankets, mattresses, and other essential items. The refugees faced a night of fear and discomfort as their temporary homes became unusable.

Another woman told foreign media that she and her young children were completely drenched. She explained that the tents collected water, and there was no other roof or protection from the rain. After the downpour, the cold intensified, forcing many to endure freezing temperatures outdoors.

Relief agencies have warned that standing water may increase the risk of diseases. Palestinians are trying to drain water from the tents themselves.
