Chairman Air Karachi and well-known businessman Hanif Gohar has made a startling revelation, claiming that soil from the Tarbela Dam contains gold deposits estimated to be worth $636 billion.

Speaking at the Karachi Press Club, Gohar said that both Prime Minister and the Army Chief had been briefed about the findings. According to him, the Army Chief responded positively and assured that the matter would be addressed promptly.

Explaining the research process, Gohar shared that his team collected soil samples from within the dam using divers to confirm the presence of gold.

“We conducted laboratory tests to assess the concentration of gold particles. After analyzing the ratio of gold in the samples and multiplying it by the total volume of the dam’s soil, the estimated value reached $636 billion,” he explained.

He emphasized that if the discovery is validated through official geological verification, it could have far-reaching economic implications for Pakistan — potentially helping to reduce the national debt and strengthen the economy.

Observers note that while the claim is significant, it requires scientific confirmation by relevant government departments before any extraction process can begin.
