Govt announces new Zakat Nisab is your account affected?

The government has announced the minimum Nisab for Zakat for the Islamic year 1445-46 A.H at Rs179,689. This amount applies to deductions from savings accounts, profit and loss sharing accounts, and similar bank accounts.

The Zakat deduction date is expected to fall on March 2, 2025.

The Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Security has officially notified the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and other Zakat collection authorities.

Last year, the Nisab for Zakat was set at Rs135,179, and in 2023, it was Rs103,159. The amount increases each year based on economic factors.
