The federal government has complied with another IMF requirement by passing legislation mandating asset disclosure from governmental personnel.

The Civil Servant Act of 1973 now includes a new Section 15-A that governs the financial behaviour of government employees. According to the law, officials in Grades 17 through 22 are required to use the FBR and an official website to publicly reveal all of their assets, both domestic and foreign, including those of their families.

Details on these assets will be accessible to the Establishment Division, which will weigh privacy and public interest.

With FBR guaranteeing data security, private data, including CNICs, residences, and bank account information, would be kept private.

In addition to meeting IMF financial monitoring standards, the action seeks to improve accountability and openness inside the bureaucracy.
