Govt to Electrify Over 15,000 Villages Across Pakistan in FY 2025-26

ISLAMABAD – In a significant move to boost rural development, the government has unveiled a comprehensive plan to electrify 15,352 villages across Pakistan during the fiscal year 2025-26, as outlined in the official budget documents.

The initiative will be carried out through multiple regional electricity supply companies. Under the plan, MEPCO will electrify 2,605 villages, GEPCO 8,707 villages, KESCO 1,080 villages, PESCO 1,641 villages, IESCO 200 villages, LESCO 199 villages, and FESCO 800 villages.

In addition to rural electrification, the government also aims to deliver 1,861,320 new electricity connections nationwide to households and businesses. The distribution of these new connections includes 483,347 by MEPCO, 346,126 by FESCO, 387,377 by LESCO, 280,111 by GEPCO, 120,000 by PESCO, 100,095 by IESCO, 22,538 by KESCO, 20,481 by HESCO, and 5,440 by SEPCO. This plan is part of a broader strategy to enhance energy access, promote economic growth, and improve the quality of life for millions of Pakistanis, especially in underdeveloped regions.
