Palestinian group Hamas strongly condemned the Israeli attack and arrests of people on board the Global Samoud Flotilla, which was carrying aid to Gaza. Hamas called the action an act of terrorism and sea piracy.

In an official statement, Hamas said that Israel targeted peaceful human rights activists and journalists on the aid ships. The group said this is a crime against humanity and will only increase global anger towards Israel.

Hamas asked the United Nations and the international community to take responsibility and act quickly. They demanded protection for the aid workers and the flotilla and called for global condemnation of Israel’s actions.

The flotilla started its journey from Spain on August 31, with more ships joining on the way. Reports say that more than 50 boats with over 500 people were heading toward Gaza with humanitarian aid.
