ICC Releases Latest ODI Rankings

DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) released its latest One Day International (ODI) rankings on Wednesday, with Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam retaining the second position in the batting rankings.
However, no Pakistani player features among the top 10 all-rounders, highlighting a clear gap in the team’s overall balance.
Batting Rankings: Gill Leads, Babar Steady
India’s Shubman Gill continues to dominate the ODI batting rankings, holding firm at number one. Pakistan’s Babar Azam maintains his place at number two, followed by Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in third.
From Sri Lanka, Charith Asalanka climbed two places to reach sixth, while Kusal Mendis made a major leap of 10 positions to secure the tenth spot.
Bowling Rankings: Theekshana Leads, Afridi Drops Slightly
In the bowling department, Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana remains at the top. His teammate, Wanindu Hasaranga, rose impressively by 11 places to land at eighth. India’s Ravindra Jadeja slipped one spot to ninth.
Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi dropped one rank, moving to twelfth, reflecting a slight dip in form.
All-Rounder Rankings: Omarzai on Top, No Pakistani Representation
Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai leads the ODI all-rounder rankings. Notably, no Pakistani player is included in the top 10, pointing to a critical area where the national team needs to improve.
As teams gear up for the upcoming ODI series, Pakistan will aim to develop reliable all-rounders to support consistent performers like Babar Azam and improve their competitiveness in all aspects of the game.
