ICC to Review PCB Complaint Against India Captain Suryakumar Yadav

India’s cricket captain Suryakumar Yadav may face disciplinary action after the International Cricket Council (ICC) agreed to review a complaint filed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Indian media reported.
The PCB lodged the complaint following India’s Asia Cup group-stage win against Pakistan on September 14, accusing Yadav of politicising cricket in his post-match remarks. The ICC confirmed it is examining the matter and may call a formal hearing. Yadav will have the option to either accept the charge or defend himself before the ICC match referee, alongside officials from the PCB and BCCI.
Sources revealed that the PCB submitted a detailed letter demanding strict action, arguing that Yadav’s comments linked the game with politics and harmed the sport’s reputation. The letter also pointed out that his references to the Pahalgam incident and Operation Sindoor violated the ICC’s neutrality rules.
The PCB stressed that the ICC’s code of conduct should apply fully to the September 14 match. It further reminded the governing body that slogans such as “Free Gaza” and “Freedom is a Human Right” have previously been ruled as breaches of the same code.
The ICC’s review is underway, and the outcome will determine whether Suryakumar faces penalties for his remarks.
