Immigration Department Refute Pakistani Passport Changes

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has addressed recent rumors about changes to the Pakistani passport design. In an official statement, the department clarified that there have been no modifications to the front cover of the passport. The rumors circulating on social media about a new design are entirely false, the department emphasized.

The Immigration Directorate confirmed that, apart from some improvements to security features, the passport design remains the same. The statement urged the public to ignore misleading information and rumors online. Authorities warned that legal action would be taken against anyone spreading false propaganda regarding the passport.

In response to the rumors, the Directorate also called on citizens to act responsibly when sharing information. The clarification came after multiple social media posts misled people about the new passport design. The department emphasized the importance of ensuring accurate information is shared, especially concerning government matters.

Along with the clarification on the passport design, the Directorate shared the updated passport fee structure for 2025. The new fees include Rs. 4,500 for a five-year, 36-page passport, and Rs. 6,700 for a ten-year passport. Urgent processing fees are set at Rs. 7,500 for five years and Rs. 11,200 for ten years.

The 72-page passport will cost Rs. 8,200 for five years and Rs. 12,400 for ten years. For urgent processing, the fees are Rs. 13,500 and Rs. 20,200, respectively. A 100-page passport is also available, with a fee structure of Rs. 9,000 for five years and Rs. 13,500 for ten years, with urgent processing fees of Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 27,000.

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has announced major updates to the Pakistani passport, introducing the inclusion of both father’s and mother’s names on new passports.

According to officials, the upgraded passports will feature enhanced security features and improved design. The visa pages will now display images of historical landmarks from different provinces of Pakistan.

The Ministry of Interior has approved the new design, while printing is underway at the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation. Authorities clarified that except for the new features, no other changes have been made to the passport’s structure or format.
