The number of cases registered against former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad has risen to 76, according to a new report submitted by the Islamabad police.

The development came during a hearing at the Islamabad High Court (IHC), where Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir presided over a petition filed by Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Niazi. The petition sought details regarding the various cases filed against the former prime minister.

Lawyers for the petitioner, Shaheena Shahab and Mirza Asim Baig, presented their arguments during the proceedings. The police report revealed that 14 additional cases were filed against Imran Khan following the PTI-led protests, increasing the total number of cases from 62 to 76 in Islamabad alone.

In addition to the cases in Islamabad, the IHC also received a report detailing cases filed against Imran Khan in Balochistan, with one of the two cases in the province being dismissed.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer raised concerns about certain FIRs in Islamabad being sealed. The court remarked that under police rules, the authorities have the right to seal such cases and advised the petitioners to approach the judicial magistrate for further action.

Following the proceedings, the IHC disposed of the petition filed by Noreen Niazi regarding the cases against her brother.
