Chenab River

India’s water aggression has taken a new turn as the Modi government has halted the flow of water in the Chenab River, leading to a significant reduction in water levels in Pakistan. According to reports, as a result of India’s actions, the water flow in the Chenab River has sharply decreased. At the Head Marala point, the water level has dropped to 4,300 cusecs, compared to 87,000 cusecs two days ago.

Normally, 25,000 to 30,000 cusecs of water flow at this point, but India’s decision to stop the water supply has almost stopped the flow. Furthermore, Indian media claims that India is planning to stop water at the Kishanganga Dam in Indian-occupied Kashmir, which could also reduce the water flow in the Jhelum River.

Moreover, following India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, there are now further concerns about the reduced water flow in the Ravi River. India’s actions could lead to an even more severe water crisis in Pakistan.

According to reports, India built three dams on the Ravi River in 2001, reducing the water flow to Pakistan by nearly 75%. As a result, the Ravi river barely flows except during the monsoon season, and its flow almost entirely stops during the rest of the year, particularly from December to March.
