India will not restore Indus Waters Treaty, says Amit Shah

New Delhi: Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has declared that India will not reinstate the Indus Waters Treaty and divert Pakistan’s share of water toward Rajasthan through newly constructed canals.
In an interview with The Times of India, Shah claimed that Pakistan was receiving water “illegitimately” and asserted, “They will never get that water again.” Despite the statement, Pakistan maintains that the treaty is protected under international law, and any unilateral withdrawal or diversion would be considered an act of aggression.
The Punjab government has begun exploring legal action at international forums in response to India’s stance.
