Indian politician Tejashwi Yadav has spoken out in favour of sending the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy, calling for sports to be kept separate from politics.
According to Indian media reports, Tejashwi Yadav, the son of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, emphasised that it is inappropriate to mix politics with sports. He raised the question of why the Indian cricket team cannot travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, suggesting that international sporting events, like the Olympics, involve countries competing against each other regardless of political tensions.
Yadav further questioned, “If Prime Minister Narendra Modi can travel to Lahore to enjoy biryani, then what is the problem with sending the cricket team to Pakistan?”
