PESHAWAR – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the recent shooting incident in Lower Kurram, calling it a deliberate attempt to sabotage the ongoing peace agreement in the region. The attack targeted government vehicles in the Baggan area of Lower Kurram, leaving Deputy Commissioner (DC) Javed Ullah Mehsud and three FC personnel injured.

In a statement, Mohsin Naqvi expressed his condolences and wished for the swift recovery of the injured deputy commissioner. He stated that the attack was an attempt by miscreants to disrupt the fragile peace agreement in the area. “This shooting incident is a conspiracy to derail the peace efforts. The elements responsible for this act have tried to undermine the progress of the peace agreement,” Mohsin Naqvi added.

Earlier, Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry also condemned the attack, calling it an unfortunate incident. He mentioned that DC Mehsud was on his way to Baggan when the armed assailants opened fire. “Both parties should remain peaceful, and the Kurram Agreement is being implemented. Strict legal action will be taken against those attempting to disrupt peace and order in Kurram,” Chaudhry remarked.

The shooting incident left Deputy Commissioner Javed Ullah Mehsud and three FC personnel with gunshot wounds, and all four individuals were immediately transferred to the hospital for medical treatment.

KP’s Information Advisor, Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, confirmed that the condition of the injured Deputy Commissioner was now stable and not life-threatening. Following the attack, the first convoy heading to Kurram was halted, and a decision will be made based on the situation before resuming the convoy’s departure.
