ISLAMABAD: Internet services have been partially restored in Islamabad and Rawalpindi following the conclusion of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) protest, which was called off after a major crackdown by authorities.

For the past two days, internet services had been suspended across the Twin Cities on the orders of the Interior Ministry due to the ongoing protest. However, following the announcement by PTI to end the demonstration, authorities began to lift restrictions, and internet connectivity has gradually resumed, although many users have reported glitches in the services, particularly with social media apps.

In addition to the resumption of internet services, authorities have started removing containers placed on key roads in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, signalling a return to normalcy in the region. These containers had been put in place to block roads and prevent the movement of protesters. With the end of PTI’s protest, major routes in the twin cities are now being cleared, including areas around D-Chowk and other key locations that had been affected by the protests.

The situation is now slowly returning to normal, with traffic resuming and security measures easing across Islamabad and Rawalpindi following the clearance of protest sites.
