The war in the Middle East entered its eighth day as the United States and Israel launched fresh strikes on Iran. Explosions were reported at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran, while several buildings near Azadi Tower were destroyed. Thick clouds of smoke rose from the area, visible from miles away. Israeli bombardment also continued in Lebanon, targeting multiple locations.
The death toll in Iran from US and Israeli strikes has reached 1,332, including 198 women and eight medical staff members. Iran claimed it destroyed the radar of the THAAD defense system in Jordan. In Lebanon, three United Nations peacekeeping personnel were injured in an Israeli attack in Al-Qozah. The UN condemned the attack, calling targeting peacekeepers unacceptable.
In retaliation, Hezbollah fired rockets from Lebanon toward Israel. Several rockets bypassed Israel’s air defenses and landed near a military camp in northern Israel. Eight Israeli soldiers were seriously injured, including the son of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. Iran also launched fresh missile strikes on Israel, with explosions reported in Tel Aviv. The Revolutionary Guards began the 23rd wave of Operation True Promise 4, targeting sites in occupied Palestinian territories.

The Iranian Navy fired a shore-to-sea missile at the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. According to US Central Command, 43 Iranian warplanes were damaged or destroyed, and more than 3,000 targets inside Iran were struck. Israeli forces claimed to have killed Asghar Hejazi, a close aide to Iran’s Supreme Leader. Hejazi served as Chief of Staff in the office of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
US President Donald Trump demanded Iran’s unconditional surrender, ruling out ground troop deployment. The aim, he said, is to destroy Iran’s missile and defense capabilities. Iran warned that any US or Israeli vessel in the Strait of Hormuz could be targeted. The US Central Command confirmed the use of fighter jets, bombers, drones, naval fleets, and missile defense systems. The conflict continues to escalate, with regional security increasingly at risk.
