Iran National Football Team to Compete in 2026 World Cup

FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that Iran’s national football team will participate in the 2026 World Cup in the United States. He made the announcement after meeting the Iranian team, head coach, and the vice president of the Iranian Football Federation in Turkey.

During the meeting, Infantino reassured the team that all their group matches will be played according to the original schedule. Iran qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, starting on June 11.

Iran’s first group match is set for June 15 in Los Angeles against New Zealand. The team will then face Belgium on June 21 and Egypt on June 27. Previously, concerns were raised about playing in the U.S. due to ongoing tensions with Israel and America.
