Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Meets Putin, Seeks Stronger Russian Support

Moscow: Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Russia and held a meeting with President Vladimir Putin to discuss growing regional tensions.

According to international media reports, Araghchi delivered a letter from Iran’s Supreme Leader to President Putin, requesting stronger and more effective Russian support against the United States and Israel.

Sources cited by Reuters indicate that Iran feels it has not yet fully benefited from Russia’s backing and now seeks more robust regional support from Moscow. However, the specific nature of the requested support was not disclosed.

Russia’s state news agency “TASS” reported that Araghchi emphasised the alignment of Iran and Russia’s positions regarding the escalating situation in the Middle East.

During the meeting, President Putin reiterated Russia’s offer to mediate between Iran and the United States. He confirmed that Moscow has already conveyed possible solutions to both sides and emphasised Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy.

Putin also revealed that Israel has assured Russia that Russian experts working at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant will not be targeted in Israeli strikes.
