Islamabad’s administration has taken a firm stance against terrorism following recent protests in the capital, with the Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad, Nasir Rizvi, outlining strict measures in a press conference. The authorities announced that Afghan nationals will no longer be allowed to reside in Islamabad without security clearance.

During the press briefing, IG Rizvi revealed that protests, particularly in areas such as Check Post 26, G-10, and other locations, involved direct gunfire from demonstrators, resulting in injuries to 27 law enforcement personnel. Over three days, the police arrested 954 protestors and registered seven terrorism-related cases.

The authorities also reported the seizure of more than 39 different types of weapons from over 200 vehicles during the crackdown. Chief Commissioner Randhawa emphasised that any form of terrorism under the guise of protest would not be tolerated. He added that the government is now determined to take stringent action against those breaking the law, marking a decisive shift in handling unlawful activities.
