RAWALPINDI –Islamabad United Crush Karachi Kings to Secure Qualifier Spot in PSL 10.

Islamabad United delivered a powerful performance on Monday evening, defeating Karachi Kings by a convincing margin of 79 runs in the final league match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10. The game, held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, confirmed United’s position in the top two points table, booking them a spot in the first qualifier of the playoffs.

Opting to bat first, Islamabad United unleashed an explosive batting display, amassing a towering total of 251 for 5 in their 20 overs. Openers Alex Hales and Sahibzada Farhan laid the foundation with a dynamic 153-run partnership.

Farhan hammered 73 off 41 deliveries, striking nine fours and three sixes, while Hales went on to top-score with a blistering 88 from just 35 balls, including eight sixes and six fours. Quick contributions from captain Shadab Khan (42 off 19) and Haider Ali (19 not out) ensured a strong finish for the batting side.

Karachi Kings began their run chase with intent, racing to 56 in just over five overs. Openers Tim Seifert and David Warner looked threatening early, with Seifert scoring 26 before falling in the sixth over.

Although Warner’s determined 43 runs from 28 balls stood out, the Kings’ middle order crumbled under pressure. Crucial wickets were lost in rapid succession, leaving the team struggling at 114 for 7. The lower-order resistance was led by Abbas Afridi and Aamer Jamal, with Afridi’s impressive 34 off 13 offering a brief burst of hope. Unfortunately, this fightback was fleeting, as Karachi was bowled out for 172 in just 18.2 overs.

Score Summary:

  • Islamabad United: 251/5 (Alex Hales 88, Sahibzada Farhan 73, Shadab Khan 42)

  • Karachi Kings: 172 all out (David Warner 43, Abbas Afridi 34; Shadab Khan 4-45, Salman Irshad 3-28)

  • Result: Islamabad United won by 79 runs.
