Amman / Tashkent: In a historic achievement, Jordan and Uzbekistan have qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026 for the first time ever, while South Korea secured its spot for the 11th consecutive tournament.

The upcoming World Cup, hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature an expanded format of 48 teams.

Jordan earned their place with a 3-0 victory over Oman, thanks to a brilliant hat-trick by Ali Olwan. Uzbekistan, meanwhile, secured a critical draw against the UAE, earning enough points to qualify with one match to spare, maintaining a 4-point lead.

Notably, Uzbekistan became the first “double landlocked” country in history to qualify for a World Cup.

South Korea also sealed their qualification with a 2-0 win over Iraq, continuing their impressive run of World Cup appearances since 1986.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 marks the first edition to include 48 teams, expanding from the previous 32-team format used between 1998 and 2022.
