Justice Ayesha Malik recuses herself from the Customs Act case

Islamabad – Justice Ayesha Malik of the Supreme Court has recused herself from hearing the case regarding the constitutional status of the Customs Act.

 

The hearing was conducted by a constitutional bench on Monday, which was headed by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan. Justice Malik, during the proceedings, remarked that she could not hear the case and stated that she would provide her reasons for recusal at a later stage.

The attorney general requested the court to adjourn the case for one week, seeking more time to address matters related to the case. Barrister Salahuddin Ahmed, who was also involved in the case, pointed out that the case involves significant controversy, highlighting the complexity of the legal matter at hand.

The constitutional bench will continue to hear the case in the coming days, with further proceedings expected to take place after the adjournment.
