U.S. Embassy issues travel alert for Jammu and Kashmir following deadly attack

New Delhi: The U.S. Embassy in India has issued a security alert advising American citizens to avoid traveling to Jammu and Kashmir, citing threats of terrorism, unrest, and violence in the region.
The advisory specifically warns of potential terrorist attacks and violent incidents, urging U.S. nationals in India to exercise extreme caution.
This alert follows a terror attack on April 22 in the tourist area of Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 tourists were killed, and several others injured after gunmen opened fire.
American citizens have been urged to stay updated with local authorities and refrain from unnecessary travel to high-risk areas.
