Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government to Launch Peshawar Safe City Project Post-Eid

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced plans to kick off the much-anticipated Peshawar Safe City Project after Eid-ul-Fitr, marking a significant step towards improving security and surveillance in the city.

According to official sources, the project will begin with the installation of 700 surveillance cameras at 100 key locations across Peshawar. The initiative aims to enhance public safety and security by providing real-time monitoring of critical areas in the city.

The Safe City project will later expand to southern districts of KP, including Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan, where preliminary work has already been completed. Once fully operational, the project will significantly bolster security measures, especially in regions facing security challenges.

The announcement comes at a time when KP has been grappling with a rising number of terrorist incidents. Recently, KP Police successfully foiled a terrorist attack on the Lakhani border post near the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced surveillance and security.
