The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has passed the Rs 1,962 billion budget for fiscal year 2025-26 without Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur meeting PTI founder Imran Khan, despite earlier claims that the budget would only proceed with his approval.

The budget includes Rs 547 billion for development projects and a Rs 157 billion surplus. Opposition parties walked out of the session, protesting the speaker’s refusal to allow debate on cut motions. In his address, CM Gandapur reiterated that Imran Khan’s guidance was essential but claimed the federal and Punjab governments were obstructing their meeting, even defying court orders.

Meanwhile, outside Adiala Jail, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan told reporters, “I think Imran Khan has already been sidelined.”
