KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur condemns Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s conviction

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, has strongly condemned the conviction of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. Speaking to the media, Gandapur expressed his disapproval of the legal decision, calling it unprecedented in Pakistan’s history.
Gandapur stated that for the first time in the country’s history, a former prime minister and a passionate lover of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had been sentenced. He described the sentencing as illegal, specifically criticizing the punishment handed down to Imran Khan for establishing the Seerat-un-Nabi University, which Gandapur argued was a vital institution for imparting teachings about the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
He further claimed that the Pakistan judiciary had made a “dark” decision by undermining the country’s constitution and law. Gandapur highlighted that the historical importance of this moment would be remembered, as Imran Khan, Pakistan’s most popular leader, thanked Allah after hearing the verdict.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister went on to explain the significance of the Al-Qadir University, which aims to teach young Pakistanis the Seerat-un-Nabi and provide opportunities for research on the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He emphasised that the university’s establishment was a noble cause and a contribution to Islam and Pakistan’s education sector.
Gandapur also took a firm stance against the legal decision, declaring that no illegal sentences could suppress a person who embodies resistance and who stands for a movement. He concluded by asserting that Imran Khan’s movement, which is supported by millions of Pakistanis, would continue to grow stronger. “Imran Khan, even in jail, remains a symbol of power and resistance,” said Gandapur, reaffirming the resilience of PTI’s workers, who, according to him, would continue to support the movement with their dedication.
