KP government suspended multiple officials after 17 tourists swept away by flash flood

Following the tragic incident in Swat where 17 tourists were swept away by a sudden flash flood, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has ordered an enquiry and suspended multiple officials for negligence.

According to details, Assistant Commissioner Babuzai, Assistant Commissioner Khwazakhela (for failing to issue early warnings), ADC Relief (for lack of preparedness) and District In-Charge, Rescue 1122 were suspended for negligence.

An enquiry committee, led by the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, has been formed to investigate the incident.

Compensation:

The provincial government announced Rs. 1 million in compensation for the families of each deceased victim.

Incident Details:

Tourists were taking photos on a dry riverbed when a sudden flash flood hit.

Casualties: 9 confirmed dead, 4 rescued, and 4 still missing.

Victims’ Origins: 10 from Sialkot, 6 from Mardan, and 1 from Swat.

Locals attempted rescue but were hindered by the strong current.
