Kuwait Announces Three-Day Holiday for Prophet Muhammadﷺ Birth Celebration

Kuwait will celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with three consecutive holidays next month. The Kuwaiti government announced that Thursday, September 4, will be an official public holiday for this occasion.
All ministries and government offices will close on that day. This will be followed by the regular weekend holidays on Friday and Saturday. Offices will reopen on Sunday, September 7.
The decision came after a cabinet meeting in Kuwait City. Officials confirmed that the holiday aims to honour the Prophet’s ﷺ birth with respect and unity.
They also stated that the announcement allows citizens to plan family gatherings. Moreover, this move highlights Kuwait’s commitment to Islamic traditions. People are expected to mark the event with religious activities and cultural programmes.
Government offices will remain closed during the holiday period. However, essential services will operate based on their own schedules. This means hospitals, security forces, and emergency services will continue their work.
The cabinet stressed that public safety and vital needs will not be affected. Authorities also encouraged the public to follow safety guidelines during celebrations.
The birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is observed worldwide every year on the 12th of Rabi al-Awwal. Muslims celebrate the day with prayers, processions, and gatherings. Many countries hold special events to remember his teachings and life. The celebration reflects love, devotion, and unity among believers.
