Lahore Leads Punjab in Domestic Violence Cases

Lahore has reported the highest number of domestic violence cases in Punjab this year. Official data shows that over 22,000 cases have been filed in just eight months. The violence includes physical abuse, sexual assault, blackmail, and emotional exploitation. Authorities say many women are being harmed within their own homes. This disturbing trend has prompted officials to take urgent action.
Three areas in Lahore have been declared highly sensitive for crimes against women. Nishtar Colony tops the list with 2,604 reported cases. Factory Area follows closely with 2,452 incidents. Kahna ranks third with 2,070 complaints recorded. These figures highlight specific localities where women are at greater risk. Officials say increased monitoring is now in place in these areas.
The nature of the crimes shows deep social issues. Many women face threats from their own family members. Victims often suffer in silence due to fear and shame. In some cases, men blackmail women using photos and videos. These forms of abuse damage women both mentally and physically. Police stress the need for stronger support systems.
Compared to other cities, Lahore’s numbers are far worse. Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Sheikhupura have seen fewer domestic violence reports. Experts say urban stress and lack of awareness contribute to the problem. The Virtual Women’s Police Station continues to receive hundreds of complaints daily. This shows the crisis is growing despite existing efforts.
Officials are now pushing for solutions that combine technology and awareness. Police recommend using the Women’s Safety App to report abuse quickly. Training and public education programs are also being launched. Authorities believe smart tools and strict action can reduce crimes. They aim to make Lahore safer for all women.
