Soft Drinks

Lahore – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has reserved its verdict on a petition requesting a ban on the supply of soft drinks in educational institutions across Punjab.

The petition was submitted by a concerned citizen, Rana Sikandar, who named the Government of Punjab and the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) as respondents in the case. According to the petitioner, chemical additives, including artificial colours, are being used in popular drinks to enhance flavour, which he claims are harmful to students’ health.

Rana Sikandar argued that these beverages pose serious health risks, especially to children, and emphasised that the Sindh government has already taken preventive action by banning such drinks in schools. He urged the court to implement similar measures in Punjab to protect students.
