The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) wants to organise a public demonstration at Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8, which the party intends to commemorate as Black Day. The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday asked the deputy commissioner of Lahore and others for their responses.

The LHC’s Justice Farooq Haider heard the appeal that PTI Punjab chief organiser Aaliya Hamza had submitted.

The petitioner said that she had asked the Lahore deputy commissioner for permission to host a public demonstration at the historic site on February 8 and that, despite having submitted her request on January 29 of last year, she had not received a response as of yet.

According to reports, the PTI was consistently refused permission to hold public gatherings under the guise of a law and order problem. She said she was being intimidated into not applying.

Additionally, it was argued that the deputy commissioner of Lahore had to be directed to allow the PTI’s public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8. She further requested that the court step in and put an end to the harassment of PTI employees and leaders.
