Karachi: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has announced that families of those who lost their lives in the recent Lyari building collapse will be given 80-square-yard residential plots.

Speaking to the media, the governor welcomed the formation of an enquiry committee by the Chief Minister but stressed that “changing faces won’t fix a broken system.” He added that affected families will be provided with food rations and pledged to raise their concerns in the assembly.

Governor Tessori urged the Sindh government to provide six months’ rent support and ensure alternative housing within the same area for the displaced families.

Last week, a five-storey residential building collapsed in Lyari’s Baghdadi area, killing 27 people and affecting six families.
