Baby Formula Milk
Karachi – The Sindh government has imposed a ban on the sale of baby formula milk without a doctor’s prescription, as part of its efforts to promote breastfeeding and child nutrition. Comes under the newly enforced Sindh Protection and Promotion of Breastfeeding and Child Nutrition Act.

According to the new law, selling artificial formula milk without a prescription is prohibited. Individuals or businesses found in violation of this law will face severe penalties, including a fine of Rs 500,000 and six months of imprisonment.

Additionally, formula milk companies are now required to label their products with the words “artificial milk” on the packaging. The law also restricts doctors from prescribing formula milk to mothers unless there is a valid medical reason. Doctors who breach this rule risk having their licenses revoked and being reported to the Infant Feeding Board.
