Major fake Zamzam Water scandal uncovered in Turkey; 15 tonnes seized

Istanbul— A large-scale fake Zamzam water scam has been uncovered in Turkey, with authorities seizing 15 tonnes of counterfeit Zamzam water. Investigations revealed that the fraud operation generated approximately $2.5 million (90 million Turkish Lira) over months.

The suspect, identified as Bilal, confessed to running the operation for five months, during which he produced 20 tonnes of fake Zamzam water daily, earning nearly 600,000 Lira (22,000 USD) each day. According to Bilal, most of the counterfeit water was sold in major cities across Turkey, including Istanbul, and was supplied from a warehouse in the southern city of Edirne.

Authorities raided the warehouse in Edirne and discovered a large stash of fake Zamzam water, which was being marketed under a fake label as the original Zamzam water from Saudi Arabia. The counterfeit water had been prepared using regular tap water and was falsely labelled as authentic.

The scam has raised serious concerns about the safety and legality of the counterfeit products being sold to unsuspecting consumers. Turkish authorities have assured that they are taking all necessary steps to prevent such fraudulent activities in the future and are continuing their investigation into the network behind the scam.
