Maldives President Breaks World Record with 15-Hour Press Conference

Colombo – Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu has set a new world record by holding the longest press conference ever by a head of state. The 46-year-old leader spoke for nearly 15 hours, surpassing the previous record held by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The press conference started at 10:00 AM on Saturday and lasted for 14 hours and 54 minutes, with brief pauses for prayers. It went on past midnight, making it the longest-ever press briefing by a president.
Muizzu’s marathon session also coincided with World Press Freedom Day. He praised the media’s role in society and highlighted the importance of fair and unbiased reporting.
During the event, the president answered questions from journalists and even addressed concerns submitted by the public. His office also noted that the Maldives had improved its ranking in the World Press Freedom Index, moving up to 104th place.
