Ration Card Scheme

LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the launch of a ‘Ration Card Scheme’ aimed at providing monthly relief to 1.5 million workers and labourers across the province.

During a cabinet meeting held in Lahore, it was decided that eligible individuals under the scheme will receive a monthly assistance of Rs. 10,000, offering much-needed support to low-income households struggling with rising living costs.

The initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader strategy to combat inflation and uplift the working class. Officials emphasised that the scheme would be implemented transparently and efficiently to ensure maximum reach and impact.

In addition to the ration card scheme, the Cabinet also approved a significant amendment to the Food Grains Licensing Control Order of 1957, mandating that flour mills procure at least 25 per cent of their wheat from the government, a move aimed at stabilising wheat supply and pricing mechanisms.
