MDCAT 2024 retake scheduled in Islamabad for December 22

The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2024 will be held again in Islamabad on December 22, following the recent decision by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to annul the previous results. The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has confirmed the updated schedule for the MDCAT 2024, with sources revealing that preparations are already underway for the retake.
According to sources, the finalisation of roll numbers and examination centres will take place next week. More than 30 examination centres will be established across Islamabad to accommodate the 17,597 candidates who have registered for the retake. This marks a significant drop from the initial registration numbers, which stood at 53,105 candidates earlier this year.
The substantial decrease in registrations has raised questions, but it is believed that some students may have opted out following the court’s ruling, which came after the IHC set aside the original MDCAT 2024 results.
In October, the Islamabad High Court ordered the retake of the MDCAT 2024, citing issues with the initial examination process. As a result, the PMDC had to revise its plans for the test, which is crucial for students seeking admission to medical and dental colleges across the country.
