ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information, Atta Tarar, assured that all individuals involved in the events of May 9 would be held accountable, with a collective celebration to follow their justice. Tarar emphasised that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has consistently prioritised addressing the nation’s challenges and that significant improvements, such as a reduction in inflation and an increase in exports, reflect the government’s progress.

Speaking about the May 9 incidents, Tarar revealed that 25 individuals had been convicted for their involvement in attacks on defence installations. He condemned these actions, particularly the desecration of martyrs, calling them unprecedented in the country’s history. The minister pointed out that such violent acts were a clear departure from Pakistan’s political traditions and stressed the importance of maintaining civility in political discourse.

Tarar specifically criticised the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, stating that the culture of violence in politics was introduced under his tenure. He urged that political disagreements should be resolved within the bounds of respect and peaceful dialogue, rather than through violence and destruction.
