Miss England quits Miss World in India over alleged misconduct

Author Avatar Web Desk | 2 months ago
London – Miss England 2024, Milla Magee, has withdrawn from the ongoing Miss World pageant in Hyderabad, India, citing inappropriate behaviour by event organisers.

According to The Sun, Milla alleged she was treated like a “performing monkey” and made to feel as if she was being “used for escort-like entertainment” during a promotional event on May 7. She said she was asked to sit with business sponsors to “please” them—something she found degrading and against her personal values and social mission.

“This isn’t what Miss World stands for. “I didn’t come here to be entertainment for others,” Milla said.

This marks the first time in Miss World’s 74-year history that a Miss England contestant has officially walked out mid-competition. Milla returned to the UK on May 16. Charlotte Grant, the runner-up and current Miss Liverpool, will now represent England in the pageant.

Julia Morley, CEO of Miss World, denied the misconduct allegations and claimed Milla cited her mother’s illness as the reason for withdrawal.

The Miss World 2025 final is scheduled for May 31 in Hyderabad, India.
