According to Bloomberg, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started avoiding Trump over the India-Pakistan ceasefire. Reports suggest that Modi has been skipping international events where former U.S. President Donald Trump might bring up the ceasefire in front of the media. This has raised concerns about Modi’s image ahead of key political events in India.

Bloomberg reported that Modi fears Trump could once again claim credit for the India-Pakistan ceasefire during public appearances. India is not ready to accept this claim, and Modi wants to avoid any situation where this could become a controversial issue.

The report also said that Modi is concerned that Trump’s outspoken style could embarrass him in front of the public and media. With upcoming state elections in Bihar, Modi does not want to take any political risks that could harm his party.

Bloomberg further revealed that Modi skipped the ASEAN summit in Malaysia for the same reason. Trump has mentioned over 50 times that he played a key role in achieving the India-Pakistan ceasefire, while Modi has remained largely silent despite pressure from the opposition in India.

Unlike Modi, Pakistan openly acknowledged Trump’s role, which is why he was even nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. This shows why Modi is avoiding Trump over the India-Pakistan ceasefire, as the topic remains sensitive. Trump has also praised Pakistani leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and General Asim Munir, as “great personalities.”
