Mohammad Amir expresses interest in playing IPL after British citizenship

Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has addressed speculation about his potential participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL), stating that he is open to the opportunity once he obtains a British passport.
During a Champions Trophy discussion on a private TV channel, Amir was asked about his future in the IPL. Mohammad Amir responded, “If I get the opportunity to play in the IPL next year, I will definitely go for it.”
When questioned about possible backlash from Pakistan cricket fans, Amir dismissed concerns, saying, “I have retired from international cricket.” He also took a subtle dig at critics, pointing out that while Pakistani cricketers are banned from the IPL, several former players have worked in the league as commentators and coaches.
Amir’s remarks have sparked discussions in the cricket world, as his potential IPL entry could make him one of the few Pakistani-born players to feature in the high-profile tournament. His eligibility hinges on acquiring British citizenship, which would allow him to register as an overseas player.
