The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has officially issued a notification to reduce electricity prices by 48 paisa per unit, providing relief to power consumers across the country.

According to the notification, the price reduction has been approved under the Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) mechanism for the month of September, following a request from the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), which had sought a 37 paisa per unit reduction.

NEPRA approved a higher relief of 48 paisa per unit, though the reduction will not apply to lifeline consumers.

The authority stated that the relief will be reflected in consumers’ electricity bills for November 2025, and it will also apply to Karachi-based consumers.

The decision comes as part of NEPRA’s routine monthly fuel cost adjustments, aiming to pass on the impact of lower generation costs to the public.
