New Toll Rates
In a move that will impact thousands of daily commuters, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has once again increased toll tax rates across several major motorways in Pakistan, including the key Lahore-Islamabad route.

According to the revised rates, car drivers travelling from Lahore to Islamabad via the M2 Motorway will now have to pay Rs 1,510 — marking the second toll hike in less than three months.

Toll Tax Increased Up To 50%

The latest increase affects multiple motorways, with toll rates rising between 15% and 50% depending on the route. Among the affected motorways are:

  • M1 (Peshawar to Islamabad) — New toll for cars: Rs. 550
  • M4 (Pindi Bhattian to Multan) — New toll for cars: Rs. 1,050
  • M3, M5, M14, and E35 motorways have also seen similar upward revisions.

Why the Increase?

Although the NHA has not officially released a statement explaining the reason for the latest hike, industry experts suggest the rise is likely linked to the increasing costs of road maintenance, infrastructure development, and inflationary pressures.

The revision has sparked concern among regular motorway users, especially those commuting for work or business between major cities. Many fear the rising travel costs could soon impact the prices of goods transported via these routes.
