FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial has rejected reports of a Rs100 billion loss under the Faceless Customs System. He called the claims baseless and misleading, saying they stemmed from a misread audit observation. Langrial clarified that the news misrepresented early audit findings. He stressed that the system aims to increase transparency and stop collusion between traders and customs officials. The FBR chief assured that there was no financial wrongdoing.

According to Langrial, the faceless system has already delivered positive results. He said revenue collection increased by 30% since the system’s launch. Additionally, enforcement actions have risen, with non-compliant trader cases growing four times. These outcomes show that the system is improving compliance. He also said the FBR will keep working to improve enforcement and close gaps.

Langrial addressed concerns over luxury car imports and valuation practices. He confirmed that duties are being collected based on official valuation tables. All vehicle imports are processed legally under the Import Policy Order. This ensures fairness and consistency in customs duties. He rejected any suggestion of manipulation or undervaluation.

The FBR chairman admitted delays at ports but explained their cause. He said the issues stem from congestion and procedural hurdles, not from any corruption or irregularities. He emphasized that these challenges are operational, not systemic. Steps are being taken to reduce delays and improve efficiency.

Finally, Langrial warned against spreading false information about audit findings. He said leaking audit observations is illegal and will be dealt with seriously. Legal action will be taken against those trying to mislead the public. T
