Islamabad: In a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) strongly condemned the Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling them a violation of international law and the UN Charter.

According to the official statement, the NSC viewed the attacks as destabilising actions that have escalated regional tensions and undermined diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts. The committee reviewed the wider impact of the growing U.S.-Iran tensions and a potential Israel-Iran war on the region.

The NSC expressed full support for Iran’s right to self-defence, particularly in light of attacks on nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, which were also deemed in violation of IAEA resolutions.

The committee extended condolences to the Iranian people over civilian casualties and stressed that all parties must prioritise dialogue and diplomacy to avoid further escalation.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s consistent stance, the NSC emphasised its commitment to regional peace, stability, and adherence to international law and human rights.
