ISLAMABAD: The National Security Committee (NSC) convened a high-level meeting on Thursday to deliberate Pakistan’s comprehensive response to India’s recent actions following the controversial Pahalgam false flag operation.

Chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the meeting was attended by top civil and military leadership, including key ministers, security officials, and representatives from intelligence agencies. The forum reviewed the internal and external implications arising from the developments and discussed diplomatic, strategic, and policy-level responses.

The meeting comes in the wake of a series of abrupt moves by New Delhi, which include closing the Attari-Wagah border for Pakistani nationals and revoking the SAARC visa exemption for Pakistan. Furthermore, India announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960, a critical water-sharing agreement between the two countries.

Speaking to the media in New Delhi, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that these steps were being taken “in light of recent events” and would take immediate effect.

Sources privy to the NSC meeting confirmed that Pakistan is considering raising the issue at international forums while also assessing diplomatic and legal options to counter India’s “hasty, impulsive, and impractical” actions.
