Omar Ayub accuses government of stifling freedom of speech through PECA

SARGODHA (365 News)— Omar Ayub Khan, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, criticised the government on Saturday for limiting free expression by passing the Pakistan Electronic Media Prevention Act (PECA).
Speaking to the media in Sargodha, where he had come for a hearing, Khan said that no space remained for journalists to freely voice their opinions and that no media representatives were allowed to publish or talk in public.
He blamed the government for the nation’s inflation while asserting that the Sindh government would consent to water distribution as part of the federal government’s suggested agenda.
The political crisis that followed the 2024 elections was caused by Sikandar Sultan Raja. We occasionally show up in court without being aware of our offence. My letter requesting the creation of a parliamentary committee has not received a response from the prime minister. We will not allow the government to continue to dwell on the issue. On February 8, we’ll have a power show in Swabi,” he emphasised.
