Over 95,000 Families Receive Loans Under Punjab Housing Scheme

Lahore – The Punjab government has successfully provided housing loans to more than 95,000 families under the flagship ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ program, aimed at helping citizens build their own homes.
During a recent review meeting chaired by Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, Program Director Waleed Baig reported that 95,600 families have received loans for home construction. Out of 82,931 houses currently under construction, 20,940 have been completed, while 59,510 families have received their second loan installment to continue building.
The scheme, launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has set a target to provide loans to 100,000 families by the end of October 2025.
Funding and Program Details
So far, over Rs113 billion has been disbursed in loans to deserving families. The government aims to extend this support to 500,000 families within the next five years.
The housing program includes three models to accommodate different needs:

Construction on state-owned land

Affordable housing in private schemes

Interest-free loans for families owning small plots
This initiative is expected to create approximately 500,000 jobs and significantly improve living standards for underserved communities across Punjab.
The ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ program continues to be a vital step towards providing shelter, stability, and a brighter future for thousands of families in the province.

A major milestone has been achieved under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s flagship housing initiative “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar”, as the construction of over 50,000 homes has been recorded in just a few months, setting a new precedent in the province’s history.
According to official reports, by the end of June, the programme successfully met its target of over 50,000 homes. Under this scheme, more than 51,911 housing loans have been disbursed so far, totalling Rs. 57.90 billion, offering financial aid to low- and middle-income families looking to construct their own homes.
